It was a busy training camp for us, as we practiced for both the upcoming Sports Day and indoor competition. It was also proving to be a new experience as our new form one members would be joining us for a dance performance while we performed our songs. Despite everything (shout out to the especially scorching sun), we kept our heads high and our eyes focused on our goals.

During the school holidays in August, we had our training camp that lasted for almost one week. The main objective of the training camp was to prepare for the 831 event and upcoming Asia Pacific Master Games Opening Ceremony. Although it was tough, our band members worked hard to improve their stamina and playing skills. After a few days of nonstop practice together, our relationship grew even closer, strengthening the bonds between each member.

This training camp seemed to come and go all too quickly, but we all learned a few things along the way. This training camp was organised to help us prepare for the school sports day and our upcoming indoor competition. It wasn’t an easy task, but our members all took the initiative to do their best, forging stronger bonds of friendship and camaraderie. With practice and patience, we improved our skills, both for indoor and outdoor.

As the saying goes, the road to success is paved by hard work, and it holds true for us as well. During the last school holidays, we held our training camp at school. It was also our new F1 members’ first time participating in a training camp, and they enjoyed the new experience. We also had fun getting to know our new members better.
During this training camp, we went over our parade marching for Sports Day. We also diligently practiced our songs for the upcoming indoor competition. The highlight of this training camp was definitely practicing for our Sports Day formation; it was challenging but enjoyable. Through this training camp, we definitely learnt a lot.

“Playing music is supposed to be fun. It’s about heart, it’s about feelings, moving people, and something beautiful, and it’s not about notes on a page. I can teach you notes on a page, I can’t teach you that other stuff.” – Glenn Holland

As the year-end school holidays begin, so to does our band’s annual training camp. Our most recent training camp lasted for two weeks. During this training camp, improvement in all aspects was what we were working for. From musical technique to our postures during marching, we practiced and gave it our all. Although this training camp was challenging in many different ways, we all left in high spirits and a strengthened sense of camaraderie.

As the school holidays arrive, so does our training camp. Although this training camp was just held over two short days, we learnt many new things during this time and further refined our musical skills and technique. This training camp also fostered and strengthened the bonds between all members.

The purpose of this training camp was to help us prepare for our sports day on the 22th of June. During this period, we learnt many things about outdoor marching skills and understood the importance of teamwork. The teamwork we developed during training camp helped to bring the band together. Our members worked hard without feeling exhausted. Our seniors taught the juniors about outdoor training skills patiently under the hot sun. Although the training camp was immensely tiring, it enriched our holiday.

- Yeoh Goh Jie-Xi K3C Tenor Saxophone

During the recent school holidays, a training camp was organised in the school. The purpose of training camp is to let us improve. Although it was tough and we’ve gone through pains and sorrows, yet it was very memorable because our band mates brought us fun, joy and laughter. However, I felt that time just slip through our hands without us noticing while marching around the field and practicing our songs. Through this training camp, I’ve learnt the importance of teamwork and syncing. I get to learn new knowledge and although its been hard for all of us, we still get to enjoy ourselves very much. I hope that through this training camp, I can know more about myself and improve my skills. ‘ Practice makes perfect ‘ after all. -Jacelyn Cho Vyin Yeng K2B Flute

-Vicky Tan K1A Percussion

We have all experienced a holiday that whizzes by at the time but, in retrospect, seems to have gone on forever. When we are doing something new, the hours pass quickly. But all the experiences lead to lots of memories. During this school holiday, we have organised another training camp with the involved of our new members. This training camp improved their musical skills and so do basic marching skill. ‘Practice makes perfect’ We hope that through this training camp, they have learned new knowledge and enjoyed themselves throughout the practices. Meantime, other members are preparing themselves for sports day and indoor competition.

December 30th, 2016 by PCGHS Band

As it was mentioned in the practice timetable, our school band held our last training camp of the year in this december school holidays. In this training camp, we improved our musical skills and marching skills. During the process, our band members have also exchanged their understanding and opinion of club between each other, which in turn promoted each other’s relationship in relaxed and the joyful atmosphere Although there are 6 months more to sports day, we still practices for our parade. This training camp was tired yet memorable as we worked hard and payed a lot effort in both indoor and outdoor. We hope that this training camp had improved our skills so that we can perform and participate in competition skilfully.
